About Rachael
Thanks for your interest, back again after a bit of a break. There is a minimum board of two nights.
I'm a mature carer and a former Registered Nurse, and previously volunteered at a shelter for 2 years. I provide a "safe hands" dog Aunty service. Boarders can feel at home with a grassy back yard, a courtyard and a few good sun windows. I cater for only one board dog, while also providing other services.
My resident ridgeback boy of 8 is social but can object to bigger or busy dogs. To avoid stressing him (he's usually easy going) I prefer to host only female dogs.
Anyone using my walking service has access to boarding, provided that your dog and mine gel.
Quality check-list
- 1 boarder cap, no more than 2 client dogs walked together
- frail sickly dogs catered and are provided with full home comforts
- dogs with poor recall get good mileage but on an ultra-long leash
- all play is monitored for K9 civility
Bespoke Boarding
Dogs free range in my modest bungalow, and the yard is private from view & not accessed in my absence. When I'm out dogs are rested in separate zones.
Daily walk/runs are taken at the beach or on cycle tracks/in parks.
Guests can overnight in a spot of their own choosing - couch, dog bed or even foot of sitters bed (if allowed).
Complementary pick up is available locally, with drop off by arrangement.
Nature Walks
These are either solo or with two dogs given compatibility, the UK has outlawed pack walks (defined as 4 dogs or more) because of nasty incidents.
We take a half up to an hour if the destination warrants a good ramble, and local beaches, parks and cycleways are rotated. Pick up is from 11 to 2pm.
Home Visits of 30-45 mins
May include play, cuddles, toileting, feeding, medications, even a light five minute stroll round the block (in the daytime) for sensory stimulation. Booking slots are avail between 9am-1pm and 9-12pm.
Approach - top level reward is Salami
My way to win licks and influence dogs is through rewards or withholding them - the "nothing in life is free" philosophy, and the use of a big NO where necessary! TLC is freely given - always vital for dogs settling in.
Please when booking be current with your dogs vaxes including kennel cough for boarders, and worming.
Warmest Regards, and do feel free to message me if you have any questions
