About Nicki And Daniel
Meri kirihimete 2023 and happy New Year to everyone.
Kia ora, we are Nicki & Dan & we live in Naenae with our two 8 year old kitties Puti & Taini, and Chewy who we inherited when Nicks parents sadly passed in 2019.
We don't just pop by, change food and clean litter then go... we spend time with your floofs, giving them pets when they are open to it (I.e. we don't chase them) and/or just hang out with them.
We will only consider doing visits that are once or twice a day in the Hutt region only and preferably on a bus run in the event that our car is in the shop or if Daniel is working and has the car. We would however, consider doing house sits in other areas in the Wellington region.
We absolutely LOVE animals, so getting paid to take care of them is a dream job. We've been doing this for around 7 years.
We both have bad backs and I have arthritis so walking big fit dogs isn't really viable. Small dogs, pups or old dogs should be fine.
We've taken care of dogs, cats, chickens, mice, turtles, axolotls, fish, and have given medications to pets where necessary.
We're happy to water plants, bring in mail and take out rubbish bins while caring for your babies.
Some notes for new people looking for a sitter:
a. You message a sitter to check their availability and to state what your needs are for the job (area, a bit about your pets, special requirements).
b. If they are interested in the job the pet sitter will arrange a meet and greet with you and your pets. At the end of the meet both parties decide if they would like to go ahead with the booking.
c. If they agree to go ahead, the pet owner sends a job request through pawshake and the sitter has 24 hours to accept it. Once that happens, the money is taken out of your account by Pawshake and only released to the Pet Sitter after completion of the job.
d. You can, of course, meet with multiple pet sitters till you find the one who you are most comfortable with and then send the one you decide on a job request. It's always polite to message others you've met with to just say you've found someone else to do the job. It's your home, your babies so is completely understandable that another sitter might better meet your needs and you feel you can trust them with your home and pets.
e. A week or so before the job starts contact the sitter with information about access to keys, lockbox codes etc and an approximate time you will be leaving and returning from holiday so the sitter doesnt turn up when youre in the midst of packing and has time to do a tidy before you return.
Notes:
It's not a prerequisite of course, but if you have a sitter doing a house sit (not just visits) its always appreciated if they can use the wifi.
Also, if you want to book someone for a public holiday (especially Xmas), it pays to start looking months before. We start getting Xmas requests in March.
We are an open book, if you have any questions for us, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you for considering us to take care of your precious furbabies.
