About Darryn/D’
If you're looking for experience and a genuine care for your feline friends you're in the right place.
I'm D' (short for Darryn) - he/him - and cats have been an integral part of my life for 30 years now. It's a real pleasure to meet each and every new feline I come across, and I always do my best to take their feelings and best interest into account when I do - whether that's professionally or just out on the street.
I've been a cat-sitter for friends and family on and off for about 20 years (gosh!), but since my main work has pivoted into a medium where I can work from (anyone's) home, doing so while looking after other people's furry friends just seems like win-win.
My passion for cats is often one of the first things people get to know about me. I'm happy to offer a free meet-and-greet to visit you and your cat (or cats), to get to know their particular wants, needs, and territory.
A visit from me includes:
A feeding of one (or two) meals' worth of your cats' normal food
At least 10 minutes of hands-on care, depending on your cats' desires (play, pats, grooming, etc.)
A minimum of an hour's of social time with a friendly human presence to ease your cats' anxiety from your absence in their daily routine
Food area and litter tray monitoring (and cleaning if necessary)
Plant watering (as required)
Public transportation costs included
Testimonials:
"D' was great with our cat Poppy! He came over to meet her before we went away, and sent photos and updates which we really appreciated. She was well looked after and had plenty of pats and company." - Stanford, Newlands
"Darryn was a really kind and attentive carer for our aged feline, Bitmap, sending photos, giving little updates etc. He genuinely loves cats and it really shows!” - Rebecca, Brooklyn
"Humans are generally annoying but D' is the most tolerable one I've met. He gives me all the attention I deserve as queen, feeds me punctually, and is incredibly kind and patient. I reserve my slaps for annoying humans and bless him with purrs and cuddles instead. He is a worthy subject and I permit him to serve other cats." - Pepper The Cat, Mount Cook
"Our cat Franklin likes three people: his two human parents and D'. He will sometimes tolerate others, if they have food, but D' is the only person Franklin actually likes after he’s scarfed his food. We don’t know how D' managed to secure this rare affection: maybe because whenever he looks after Frank, he always takes the time to talk to him, or watch him roll on the sun-warmed concrete, or give pats. This affection has even survived a couple of occasions where Frank needed meds while we were away, which D' administered with aplomb. D' also lets us know how our cat baby is doing and sends pics. He’s super reliable, considerate and professional. We unreservedly recommend him as a cat sitter, he really is the best." - Jayne, Newtown
